Yessssssssssssssss. (This is my excited noise, as well as "hercules, hercules" whilst clapping, don't know why, or where the last one came from, but Yesssssssssssss is more appropriate in this blog post)
So, Tourism Wellington in conjunction with Go Wellington have decided that we should have an annual food-type festival, starting this year from 17-30 August. The hope is that, in the next three years that this event could be worth 3.4 million moolah (meaning dollars) to the local economy.
What happens...? Well, 44 different restaurants.....really good restaurants like Martin Bosleys, Ambeli, Logan Brown, Matterhorn for example will be offering some sort of lunch or dinner deal that makes it easier (moolah-wise) for people like you and me to be able to afford to eat there!! Seems like the dealio is that they will either offer a set-menu for lunch (2 courses, coffee and a glass of wine) for either $25 or $35. Then for dinner they would have some other deal, for example a free dessert, or glass of wine.
Other things are happening too! Beervana! (you know i'll be there!), behind the scenes tours of the kitchens of these swish resaurants, cocktail training. Anything goes.
Events are listed on the Wellington on a Plate website www.wellingtononaplate.com and they have made it super simple for us to find out what is going on with a text link....you text 'Plate' to 315, and it will send you a link to all the events when you are out and about!
