Make your Mum Smile this Sunday

The best home-made gifts for your Mum this Sunday

This is the second year in a row that I have been away for Mother's Day (sorry Mum...next year!). So here are a couple of gift ideas that your Mum would really love and are easy to package up and post (for us absent daughters). Much better than some impersonal gift and plenty of fun to make.

Homemade Jam (under 30min recipe)

Jam Jars

This is definitely taboo in the traditional jam making world BUT it's only 4 days till Mother's Day so this fail-safe recipe is excusable - Chelsea Jam Setting Sugar + 1kg fruit = homemade jam. You will find this at most supermarkets and
1kg of Jam Setting Sugar = 4-5 medium sized jars of jam. Use 1kg of any fruit, apricot is my choice.
If your favourite fruit is not in season, frozen fruit is a great alternative which will also give you amazing results.

Put it in a Jar!

 in a jar

If you are unable to personally deliver a basket of warm sweet muffins or brownies to your Mum this Sunday then give her muffins in a jar! By changing the flavour to suit her tastes this is a quirky and creative way to show you care.

    2. Recipe To Attach: Beat 1/2 cup (1 stick) softened butter or margarine, 1 large egg and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract in large mixer bowl until blended. Add cookie mix; mix well, breaking up any clumps. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake in preheated 375ø F oven for 8 to 10 minutes. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks. Makes 2 dozen cookies.
