So pretty, so sweet.....so a thing(interrobang)
On this sunny, Sunday, no wind day in the wonderland that is Wellington there was a massive line outside Kaffee Eis on Oriental Bay. Smart people. I went in and grabbed my fav lemon and raspberry cone combo. While singing Mungo Jerrys 'In the summertime' but changed the woman line to 'You got gelato, you got gelato on your mind', I thought I was so funny, until my gelato dropped and splattered all over the sand, and there was a fit of laughter (not from me, I was gutted)..anyway..

Gelato means frozen in Italian. It is Italys version of ice-cream, traditionally made with milk, cream, sugar and flavourings. Not to be confused with Sorbetto which is made without dairy products (although Kaffee Eis' fruit gelato is actually Sorbetto). Gelato is denser than regular icecream making it more flavourful. It is slightly healthier than regualr ice-cream because it usually contains all natural ingredients and less butter fat.
Bernardo Buontalenti from Florence created this masterpiece for the court of Catherina dei Medici. Smart man, guys could learn a thing or two from Bernardo.
It's pretty easy to make, but you do require an ice cream maker, which I was going to buy so I could make some for the blog, but I thought that it may be to dangerous for my figure to be buying such things.
Check out Dream Cones in Merivale Chch, Andrea and Olga make a pretty mean cone.
