Betty.

Betty has a red petticoat underneath the skirt which make her puff out a little from the waist. She also hugs me in the waist, not too tight, just enough to be flattering.
She is named after Betty Draper from Mad Men. That is her on the bottom. Oh what was that? yes..I know the photo on top is funny, but there was no one home so I had to do a webcam picture.

I found Betty at Rex Royale on Cuba Mall in Wellington. She was just hanging out (get it haah), she wasn't saying much but she was totally giving me the eye, and she could tell I was interested.

I took her into the changing room, we got to know each other. She gave me that hug and she was sold to Me.

I then rushed home and wanted to get to know her family, seems she didn't talk I had to do a little research online for her family tree and I found Romany Tasker-Poland.

She told me the whole history of the dress and told me there were many more like her! and because Betty is so wonderful I wanted to share the story with you so that you too can have your very own Betty.

Romany runs Yo Designs. Her Ma (mother), Yolande has been making clothes forever and by the sounds of it has given birth to a lot of Beautiful Betty's among other gorgeous children! Yo is based in Napier, and halfway through this year Romany started marketing her clothes here in Wellington - totally the perfect place for them!

Romany started off very small, touring the markets and taking her blanket out onto Cuba Mall. Thats where the Betty's were discovered by Jacqui from Rex Royale, and a couple of months later Jacqui adopted some of Yo's Betty's and fur stoles. Since then Amy from Aeon dressmaking has also adopted some of Yo's pretty children.
Here are a few family photos.
