The Slice Party

Posted by gem, 23rd September 2010

Fun.

We had our 3rd Bake-off on Wednesday, 'The Slice Party'.

It was far more serious this time around. The chosen judges were very thorough...and were all chosen for their super hero sensory powers. The 8 competitors were nervous, and there was even a little bit of humorous bribing and over the top complements to win them over.

The quality over-all was high, and there was only .5 of a point seperating the top two.

The rules were:

1. It must contain chocolate.

2. It must have 2 layers.

Slices were rated out of 5 on.

Mouthfeel, Presentation, Creativity and Overall taste.

Recipies will be up shortly!

First was Erin with her Magical Power slice, it gives you magical powers (by way of a sugar hit). A slice made of malt biscuits, coconut, dried fruits and chocolate (of course)

Total Score: 77.5 points

Close second went to Sarahs Magical Louise slice. Tasty tasty, and also magical.

Total Score = 77 points

Third Place went to Sams Chocolate Nut Fingers. She got top of the table on the presentation score.

Total Score = 72 points

Forth was Carols Marshmellowy Delights. Also scored highly in the presentation and mouth-feel catagories. It did feel good in the mouth.

Total Score:70 points

Fifth place was Gingercats Orange+Chocolate=Jaffa town slice. Mmmmm mmmm who doesn't like Jaffas!?, also rated highly in the mouth-feel catagory.

Total Score: 65 points

Next was Dougs 'Fart slice' hmmm, creative name there. It was not reminiscent at all of farts. Or maybe FART stands for something like Fantastic And Real Tasty.

Total points: 62.5

Lucky number 7 was our German hottie, Claudia's Chilli Chocolate and Blueberry Slice. Top marks for creativity.

Total Points:58

Then we had Adams aka Jesus Chocccy-licious cakey slice. Which was yum! I think in a way being number 8 in the tasting line is somewhat unfair as everyone has sugar-overload by that stage with the other 7.

Total score : 53.5

So the game from here.....the winner decides on the next challenge and becomes a judge on that challenge. There is now a trophy involved, so it's game on. If you want to be involved you can check out the facebook page, or send me an email gem@prettysweetthings.com
